This week I’ve decided to put my money behind VAINglorious.

The What of It: Vainglorious is a sitcom project looking to raise funds to shoot a pilot episode in hopes of getting it picked up as a full fledged TV show. The show revolves around two friends who have never worked a day in their lives and lost their source of income that allowed them to live lives of partying and excess and are now forced to find alternative means of income, preferably without getting real jobs.  The pilot episode features the duo discovering the world of becoming an ordained priest online and their plan to get money by absolving peoples sins for a price.

The Who of It: At the fore front of this project is Stephanie Greenquist. Stephanie is known for her starring role in the web series “Steph and Lance Go To Compton” but has also worked on projects such as “The A-Team” “The Incredible Hulk” and “Madea’s Witness Protection.” Stephanie is taking the role of writer on this project as well as playing one of the leading roles.

Joining Stephanie as the other lead character is Dian Bachar who is probably best known for his roles in “Orgazmo” “BASEketball” and “Cannibal The Musical.”

The Why of It: I’ll be honest all I needed to get my interested was to see the picture of Dian and Stephanie on the project. I’ve been a huge fan of Dian for a while and knowing he was attached pretty much sold the project for me without reading a single word. I did, of course, read the words afterward and that just cemented it as my choice for this weeks Kickstarter pledge. I usually examine between eight and ten projects to decide what I’m going to back each week and VAINglorious was right at the top of the list setting a pretty high bar for something else to take the spot for the week. The premise for the pilot alone is hilarious and I can only imagine the sorts of ridiculous antics these two will get up to if the series get’s picked up. I honestly don’t want much TV these days, but VAINglorious sounds great enough to get me in front of the idiot box without hesitation every week.
