Let me begin by saying I am not, in fact, receiving any kickbacks for writing about these projects. If, however, someone wants to toss me some coin for featuring their project I’m not going to complain.

Once again I bring you a project offering something outside the realm of modern game gaming. The Diviner is a pretty standard story as RPG’s go. The Empress has taken it upon herself to set out and quell a rebellion and hasn’t been seen since. Naturally it falls on you, our plucky hero, to venture forth and locate her. Like I said, standard stuff. Where things get different are the distinct lack of fancy 3D worlds or tiny little chibi sprites. The Diviner is an adventure rendered in beautiful illustration.

With the basic information out of the way let’s get into the details. First character creation begins with selecting the basic archetypes Guard, Instructors, and Conspirators. Each of these has their own skill options and trees leading to further specializations. With this character in hand you travel Low Vis in search of your empress interacting with a host of characters and factions building a reputation for yourself much like the system in Fallout: New Vegas from which they drew inspiration. Each conversation, each action, each quest, has ramifications that will shape the rest of your journey. Sounds like a bold claim to me and more than worth the pledge just to see if they can deliver the madness they’re putting on offer.

Sounds good? Want to know more? Check out their project page. I’m in and I think any RPG fan out there should be too.
