Over the last week or so we shot quite a bit more than we typically do for internal projects. Aside from Monday Zen videos we’ve really been trying to figure out how to make time to set up and maintain some sort of regular release cycle for original videos. The problem is all of our schedules can be pretty erratic and it’s become increasingly difficult to make time to get enough of us together to shoot something. As a result we have a few half finished videos, the perpetually doomed to production limbo “Can’t Get No Play” series, about a dozen scripts, and a handful of actually finished videos we’re sitting on trying to figure out what to do with it all.
I’ve always believed the key to getting some sort of fan base on line is consistency. You really need to set a schedule and stick to it. Setting a schedule is easy, of course, anyone can say “I’m going to do X every week on day Y.” Problem is I don’t think we’d be able to live up to it if we tried right now. Not consistently. Not for more than a number of weeks greater than the number of finished, or mostly finished, videos we have in the can right now. Heck the first 3-4 episodes of “Can’t Get No Play” are in the can, but if I started putting them out into the wild now I can’t guarantee the remaining ten would get finished on schedule. For now the only thing I can say for sure is Monday Zen will continue running on Mondays for the foreseeable future. I guess that’s something.
Speaking of “Monday Zen,” here’s this week’s. This one is easily one of my two favorites.
