The Legend
The Empok Anima Trilogy
The Legend began with our youngest child's obsession with a wildly popular video game franchise. A Halloween costume turned into a proof of concept video to see if our children could handle some light acting, and from there The Legend spun off into a full-blown fan film that spanned three years of production. While originally little more than a wink and nod to fellow fans of its video game inspiration, The Legend has become so much more for us. First expanded upon in a picture book for children titled The Legend: Garden of the Dandelynel King, our princess eventually took on an identity of her own and we gave her the name Princess Endy of Varhium. The world of Varhium is a strange place where the very landscape of the world shifts from day to day, though many of the key locations remain more or less in the same place. Released in August of 2024, The Legend: First Quest is the first in a series of stories featuring our little princess and her daily adventures after sneaking out of the castle. The forthcoming The Legend: Wake Rider is planned to see release some time in 2026.
They may look familiar, but these stories aren't the legend you think they are...
Bubblegum[punk!]
Born in the dark days before the founding of Rogue Bard Media, an android known only as 42 started as little more than a one-off art piece created by Krystal. Over the course of a few years, 42's unknown origins expanded into an entire galaxy of strange aliens and cultures woven together into The Empok Anima Trilogy. What are the Empok Anima, you ask? No one knows for sure, but legends say an advanced and now extinct alien species hid a stockpile of weapons that, if found, would change the balance of power in the galaxy.
42, with her co-pilot The Admiral, travel the stars aboard her ship, the Jumpin' Jack, picking up odd transportation jobs to keep the fuel tanks full and the ship spaceworthy. Constantly low on money, 42 finds herself caught up in protecting the last remaining unicorn from poachers, apprehending whoever keeps stealing electric sheep from a diminutive mafia family, and making first contact with a species of simian aliens who have bonded with a species of insectoid alien symbiotes. It all culminates when 42 is swept up in a warlord's search for the Empok Anima and a race to stop 42's long thought dead sister from conquering the galaxy.
Shortly after the founding of Rogue Bard Media, we stabilized our shaky journey with a third wheel by the name of Danno. For the first six years, we worked together on virtually every project but eventually the time came for Danno to move on to other things. And so we came together for one last short film project with no real plan beyond "something starring our kids" and "zombie-related." That film turned into Bubblegum[PUNK!], about a young girl who lives in the suburban town of Heddrick Heights, where anyone who lives to their early twenties turns into a mindless, zombie-like shell of themselves called cabbageheads due to their skin turning green during the transformation.
This is the world of Bubblegum, a nine-year-old girl who fights against bullies, cabbageheads, and the tyranny of the Suicide King, who rules the largest gang in town with an iron fist. By her side is her toddler ward, Punk, the living teddy bear, Poh, and Bubblegum's family, the greatest punk band in the world- Granny's Sex Tape.
